Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
Here at Wroot Travis Charity C of E Primary School we provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all of our children. The Early Years Curriculum and the National Curriculum give the starting point to teachers planning to meet the specific needs of individuals and groups of pupils. Teachers set Learning Tasks that both support and challenge pupils. A minority of children have particular learning requirements that could form barriers to learning. Teachers take account of these requirements and make provision, where necessary, to support individuals or groups of children in order to enable them to participate fully in the curriculum and assessment activities. Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) Mrs Judge is responsible for monitoring the progress and needs of these children, she can be contacted via the school office.
The four broad areas of Special Educational Need set out in the 2014 Code of Practice are:
Communication and interaction
Cognition and learning
Social, emotional and mental health
Sensory and/ or physical
The Children and Families Bill become enacted in 2014.
